               Cyprus Special Protection Areas (SPA's)

               Kato Pafos Lighthouse Area

As of the 22nd November 2005 this site was designated an SPA

A small area north of Pafos castle and around the Pafos lighthouse. Cyprus Wheatear and Cyprus warbler breed at the site and the area is a key wintering ground for Greater sand plover.

Problems

Disturbance is the main threat to birds at this site as hundreds of tourists walk in the vicinity when visiting the coast and the nearby archaeological sites.

Cyprus Wheater (Oenanthe cypriaca)

Cyprus Warbler (Sylvia melanothorax)
