Red-necked Grebes breed in Turkey (100-1000 pairs)
and throughout eastern side of Europe. Normal wintering areas are
south and west of breeding area. A winter visitor to Turkey and the
south Caspian. Vagrants have reached the southern side of the
Mediterranean and Kuwait. Surprisingly few
have been seen in Cyprus on coastal or inland waters. There have
only been six accepted records of nine birds. |
